I once had a framer frame a competition piece with the back side out. Apparently they couldn't tell the difference but I could spot it 10 feet away. They fixed it overnight so I could get it entered on time.

I generally try to be neat, especially with framed stuff, to avoid extra bulk and threads peeking through the holes. But I don't think I obsess about it.

When I first started needle-pointing, I would look at the back of people's work. The reaction I got just about turned me off of ever asking questions. I had committed a needlepoint sin. But I now believe the back is very important part of needle work. Starting and ending are techniques that need to be learned. Sharing this information with newbies is as important as teaching how to do basket weave. Unless you are trying to do Chinese double sided embroidery, just be sure the tails are securely anchored and don't worry about the rest.

I, too, am very interested in new ideas for finishing. My couches are full of pillows, and I've started giving away to friends, but I really don't want to do that after all the work I've invested in a canvas. :0)

Thank you for the comment and I'm glad you like it. We're going to be adding our own how-to videos like the one you watched. We're going to show some pillow and seat cushion finishing, but we agree, we'd like to branch out and show some other types of finishing. There are just so many great ways to finish canvases and we shouldn't feel constricted to just pillows and cushions.

Please keep any comments and suggestions coming. We have a good idea for what we want to post on this blog, but we're also very amenable to suggestions for what everyone else is interested in exploring in needlepoint.

The blog is great! The links to the videos are really a valuable addition, esp the one on punch needle embroidery. I have tried it in the past with limited success, but seing the video demonstration was very helpful so I will give it another shot. I would enjoy seeing more finished projects. I am interested in how people use their canvases beyond pillows and seat cusions. I'll enjoy checking back to see what new things you have added.
